County staff provided commissioners with the technical feasibility studies for the West Glen community water and wastewater options, prepared under a Business Oregon / EPA-funded grant. The report examines five water options (including deeper wells, household filtration, a community system and connection to the City of Boardman public water) and gives preliminary cost and feasibility assessments.
The nut graf: The studies lean toward connecting West Glen to a public water system (Boardman) as the most feasible long-term option, and they include an initial wastewater cost estimate to help planning and grant applications.
County staff said they will provide copies of the studies to the public at a community meeting held that evening at the Sage Center in Boardman and will make Spanish translations available. Staff also said wastewater estimates are exploratory and that project timing and funding depend on further outreach and Boardman’s buy-in.
On a related correspondence item, staff noted a Black Mountain Water District request for conveyance of a small sliver of land. Staff said it appears to be a complex title/mapping issue and recommended a short presentation at a future meeting explaining the title-search process and any cost implications if the district wants the county to proceed with conveyance work.
Ending: Staff will make the feasibility reports public, host the meeting in Spanish, and return with recommended next steps and any required agreements for Boardman and West Glen stakeholders.
