Kelly, president of the music boosters, told the audience that the group raised $21,057 through its recent Tag Day fundraiser and that North Farmington received $10,528 after splitting proceeds with Farmington Public School District. Kelly said the school’s portion will go toward clinicians and student support, and she asked attendees to use a posted QR code to make additional donations.
Kelly introduced Ken, a representative of Custom Fundraising Solutions (CFS), who described an upcoming mattress sale planned for Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Ken said the company expected to bring about 28 mattresses ranging in retail price from about $300 to $3,000, including brand-name models. He said delivery to buyers is free and typically takes about three weeks.
Organizers described how the sale benefits students: for every mattress purchase in which a buyer names a student as the referral, CFS will credit $50 directly to that student’s music account to be used for trips, repairs, private lessons and similar music expenses. Kelly also said the boosters will hold a Zoom parent call on Nov. 5; every parent who participates will earn a $5 credit to their student’s account.
Ken described CFS as a franchise operation with roughly 100 franchises nationwide (three in Michigan) and said the business has “given back $70,000,000 to people like you.” He urged attendees to promote the event through social media and personal networks, noting that the company relies on student referrals for advertising. He also described the company’s warranty approach and manufacturer guarantees as part of the sales pitch.
Kelly said the boosters remained “a little shy of our goal” and asked for additional support via the QR code in the lobby and on the auditorium screen. The organizers emphasized that funds raised through Tag Day and the mattress sale would support clinicians and other student-focused music expenses.
