Zach Fuller, lead principal at Perkiomen Valley High School, presented a redesigned school profile that counselors say is clearer and more useful to college admissions officers than the district’s older narrative version.

“Our counselors went to the College Board Summer Institute…they brought back examples of what a school profile could and should look like,” Fuller said, adding that the previous profile was “well out of date” and difficult to read. Fuller said the revised profile will accompany electronic transcripts, include a program-planning guide hyperlink and be made available in main and counseling offices.

Mikayla Conlin, counseling department chair, and other counseling staff led the work on the updated document, Fuller said; he praised Mikayla Conlin and Amanda (counseling staff) for doing “the heavy lift” on the redesign. Committee members applauded the change and noted it should help admissions officers interpret course loads, honors/AP availability and local grading policies.

Board members asked whether dual-enrollment courses and top college destinations should be listed. Fuller said the examples came from College Board guidance and that counselors could consider adding dual-enrollment notation and carefully weigh whether lists of top college destinations help or hinder applicants. He said the profile will include a QR code linking to program-planning resources.

Fuller said the district will place the revised profile online and in school offices; the item was presented as information to the committee rather than a formal vote.
