The LaSalle County Property Committee on Sept. 26 voted to forward three sealed bids for the county treasurer’s office renovation to the full county board after review by the county attorney.

County staff told the committee they received three bids: Lee Park Construction of Ottawa submitted a base bid of $178,481; Light Construction of Montgomery submitted $279,213; and Timan (Team) Builders of LaSalle submitted $207,000. All three firms completed the mandatory site visit and submitted the required 5 percent bid bonds, the presentation said. The committee noted the office projects budgeted for the year was $230,000 excluding contingency.

Why it matters: The committee’s forwarding action moves selection and contract approval to the full board and begins county attorney review of the bids’ legal and procurement compliance. The bids include at least one amount above the project budget, which will factor into the board’s review.

During the meeting the presenter summarized each bid and the bond status. Committee members voted by voice; the committee chair called for a motion to forward the bids after attorney approval and the motion passed on a voice vote.

Next steps: The item is scheduled to go to the full LaSalle County Board for a formal award after the county attorney reviews the bid packages and any contractual documents.
