The Town of Prescott Valley's Neighborhood Services is offering free bulk-trash vouchers that let residents deliver large items directly to the disposal site during normal business hours, the department's director told PV in Focus.
"We offer a voucher now, so if you're interested in taking advantage of it, you just sign up online," Tracy Lira, Neighborhood Services director, said. She said the voucher application is a short online form; residents can have the voucher mailed or pick it up at the department office.
The voucher replaces the town's historical single annual collection day. Lira said residents can now "take your trash when it's convenient for you so you don't have to wait in any long lines. You just go during their business hours at the dump and drop off your trash." The program runs in spring; Lira said the town expects to run the voucher program again beginning around February and continuing through June.
Lira confirmed there is no cost to residents for the voucher. "Nothing. So there is no cost for our residents to get this voucher," she said. The town covers the program costs and partners with the disposal facility for drop-off and processing.
Neighborhood Services staff said the voucher aims to increase convenience and participation in community clean-up, reduce curbside accumulation, and provide residents a no-cost option to dispose of oversized items. Residents seeking the voucher should visit the Town of Prescott Valley Neighborhood Services web page when the program opens in late winter or early spring.
The department said it will evaluate the pilot year and adjust timing and outreach next season.
