A community fundraiser celebrating the second anniversary of the Spirit Medical Fund is set to take place this Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM at the facility, with all proceeds benefiting the fund. The event, organized by Tom Cross, president of WARF, aims to raise awareness and support for animal welfare initiatives, particularly in reducing euthanasia rates.
During the recent Board of Public Works meeting, Cross detailed the event's purpose, emphasizing that it coincides with his birthday and the one-year anniversary of their adoption efforts at PetSmart. He noted that WARF has successfully facilitated around 300 adoptions, highlighting their commitment to animal rescue and care.
The Board approved the event after confirming that all necessary paperwork, including insurance for the food trucks that will be present, was in order. Cross clarified that the fundraiser will not involve selling items, aside from a couple of food trucks, which will operate under separate licensing.
While the current agreement is specific to this event, discussions were held about potentially establishing a more permanent arrangement for future events, allowing for easier planning and execution. The Board expressed support for the initiative, recognizing its positive impact on the community and animal welfare.
With the approval secured, the community looks forward to a successful fundraiser that not only celebrates milestones but also contributes to a vital cause.
