The Queen Creek Town Council held a regular session on October 1, 2025, where significant discussions centered around the farewell of Town Attorney Scott Holcomb, who is concluding his seven-year tenure with the town.
During the meeting, Town Manager Bruce Gardner expressed gratitude for Holcomb's contributions, highlighting his role in launching the municipal police department, expanding ambulance services, and diversifying the town's water supply. Gardner emphasized Holcomb's valuable legal advice, which has been instrumental in the council's decision-making processes.
Council members also shared their appreciation for Holcomb's service, noting his ability to keep the council on track and out of legal trouble. Councilmember Brown humorously acknowledged Holcomb's knack for ensuring that council members avoided legal pitfalls, while others reflected on the positive impact of his leadership and guidance.
Holcomb, in his remarks, expressed pride in his role as town attorney, stating it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of his 40-plus year legal career. He thanked the council and the community for their support and expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to the incoming town attorney, Cliff Matthias.
The meeting concluded with a sense of camaraderie and appreciation for Holcomb's legacy, marking the end of an era for the town's legal department. The council looks forward to continuing its work with Matthias, who will officially take over at the next meeting.
