The City of Wildwood's Historic Preservation Commission is set to enhance community engagement with the popular points of interest maps, as discussions during the August 21, 2025 meeting revealed a pressing need for updates and restocking. Currently, the commission is down to its last box of these sought-after maps, which have proven to be a valuable resource for residents and visitors alike.

The commission typically orders around 2,000 maps at a time to ensure cost-effectiveness, but the current stock is dwindling fast. To address this, members discussed several proposed updates to the maps that will enrich the information provided to the public. Key updates include adding historical context to the Essen Long Cabin, reflecting the completion of the Village Green's first phase, and incorporating details about the Mariness Retreat Center following the demolition of the Marycliff residence.

Additionally, the commission plans to introduce new points of interest, such as the Wildwood Farms Community Garden and the Route 66 historic marker. They also aim to remove outdated QR codes related to the now-defunct Wildwood Park app and note the proposed African American Heritage Trail at the Monarch Lehi.

These updates are expected to be finalized before the next order of maps is placed, ensuring that residents have access to the most current and relevant information about their community.
