Minnetonka High School Celebrates Varsity Teams' Sports Achievements and Honors

The Minnetonka Schools Board celebrated a series of impressive achievements by its student-athletes and extracurricular teams during the meeting on September 4, 2025. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of the boys' varsity baseball team, who finished second in the Minnesota State tournament, marking a remarkable season under the guidance of coaches Paul Twenge, Chris Wilson, Adam Getke, Dave Marrer, and Bailey Mills. Team members were praised for their dedication and teamwork, with a special mention of senior Dashiell Dewey, who reflected on the camaraderie built throughout the season.

In addition to baseball, the board acknowledged the success of the girls' flag football team, which went undefeated in the regular season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state competition. The team, coached by Dave Bierle, Ali Rogers, and Alex Griffith, showcased their talent and determination throughout the season.

The girls' golf team made history by winning the school's first state championship, finishing the season undefeated. Head coach Sarah Martinson highlighted the team's exceptional performance, with several players earning individual accolades, including all-conference and all-state honors.

The boys' lacrosse team also made strides, qualifying for the state tournament and placing sixth overall. Rising junior Vincent Lee shared insights on the team's resilience and teamwork, emphasizing their growth throughout the season.

The boys' tennis team saw four members qualify for the state tournament, with junior Asher Zipkin earning second place in the section tournament. Coaches Howard Siegel and his team recognized the hard work and achievements of their players.

Both the boys' and girls' track and field teams had strong seasons, with the boys placing fifth at the state tournament and the girls finishing third. Notable individual performances included Sean Friess, who earned the state title in the 3,200 meters, and Evie Malek, who excelled in the 800 and 1,600 meters.

The meeting also celebrated the success of the Envirothon team, which won the state competition and placed eighth internationally, and the Destination Imagination team, which qualified for global finals and showcased their problem-solving skills.

Lastly, the Minnetonka theater program received accolades for their production of "Anything Goes," earning multiple state spotlight awards for their outstanding performance and technical achievements.

These accomplishments reflect the dedication and talent of Minnetonka students across various disciplines, reinforcing the community's commitment to fostering excellence in education and extracurricular activities. The board looks forward to continued success in the upcoming seasons.
