Middleton Council Approves Proclamation for Just Served City Designation

The Middleton City Council meeting on September 3, 2025, focused on two significant community initiatives: the proclamation for Just Serve and the approval of a special event application for the upcoming homecoming parade.

The council considered authorizing Mayor to sign a proclamation designating Middleton as a "Just Serve City." This initiative, presented by community members including Ann Marie and representatives from the Just Serve organization, aims to promote volunteerism within the city. Just Serve is a platform that connects volunteers with local organizations in need of assistance. The program has a global reach, with participation from 17 countries and nearly a million volunteers. Local organizations such as the Middleton Food Pantry and the American Red Cross already utilize Just Serve for various community projects.

To officially become a Just Serve City, the council must sign the proclamation, which will then be submitted to the organization’s headquarters. This designation not only recognizes Middleton's commitment to volunteerism but also opens the door for potential awards and recognition at both local and global levels.

In addition to the Just Serve initiative, the council reviewed a special community event application for the Middleton High School homecoming parade scheduled for September 18, 2025. The parade aims to celebrate school spirit and foster community involvement, engaging students, families, and local businesses in a festive atmosphere.

The council's discussions highlighted the importance of community service and engagement, with members expressing enthusiasm for both initiatives. The motion to authorize the mayor to sign the Just Serve proclamation was passed unanimously, marking a significant step towards enhancing volunteer opportunities in Middleton.
