Lehi School Implements Regulation Stations and Attendance Awards to Boost Student Success

The North Platte Public Schools Board of Education Committee of the Whole convened on August 28, 2025, to discuss various initiatives aimed at improving student well-being and academic performance. The meeting highlighted the implementation of regulation stations in classrooms, a strategy developed from guided coalition meetings. These stations are designed to help students calm down and manage their emotions, featuring a two-minute timer and a bucket for students to use at their discretion.

Attendance was a significant focus, with the district celebrating achieving a school-wide attendance rate of 96.3%, surpassing the previous year's goal of 96%. The committee discussed various methods used to promote attendance, including shout-outs over the intercom, monthly awards, and the introduction of the "Level Up Award" for students who improved their attendance after being chronically absent.

Looking ahead, the committee outlined goals for the current academic year, including a return to MAP assessments to enhance NSCAS scores and continued efforts in intervention and enrichment programs. The discussion also addressed behavioral challenges, particularly physical aggression among students. To combat this, the introduction of rest time in kindergarten and first-grade schedules was proposed, along with daily "mindful moments" to provide students with opportunities for relaxation and reflection.

Board members expressed enthusiasm for these initiatives, particularly the regulation stations and the data wall that tracks student progress. There was a shared interest in monitoring the impact of rest times on younger students, with a recognition of the challenges faced by five and six-year-olds in a full-day school setting.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing evaluation of these programs and a focus on fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.
