Vista Outreach Reports 125 New Encounters With Homeless Individuals in July

The recent Standing Committee on Homelessness meeting in Vista highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the community in addressing homelessness. With changes at local shelters like La Posada and North County Lighthouse, the number of individuals seeking assistance has seen a decline, prompting a reliance on the local outreach efforts of the San Diego Rescue Mission (SDRM).

During the meeting, it was reported that in July alone, SDRM encountered 125 individuals, with 66 being new to their services. This indicates a significant number of first-time interactions, suggesting that many individuals are still in need of support. Notably, 30 of these newcomers have been in Vista for one year or less, with many coming from nearby areas such as Oceanside and Fallbrook.
