In another noteworthy accomplishment, Denton has regained its accredited status from Main Street America, a prestigious recognition awarded to only 872 of over a thousand designated Main Street programs nationwide. This accreditation reflects the city's commitment to revitalizing its downtown area and supporting local businesses. The Main Street program, which has been part of Denton since the early 1990s, faced challenges in 2023 when it lost its accreditation due to changing industry standards. However, with the appointment of Kristen Toledo as the Main Street program manager, the city has made significant strides in rebuilding the program and implementing innovative ideas for future growth.

The board also discussed ongoing partnerships and collaborations aimed at enhancing Denton's economic development. Notably, representatives attended a meeting with the NCTCOG UAS Mobility Club and regional partners at NASA Fort Worth, focusing on drone technology and its potential benefits for the Denton Airport. The city is currently working with the University of North Texas to conduct a feasibility study to assess the capacity for building a bird report, which could further support the local aviation industry.

Additionally, the board engaged with Hillwood and local business leaders to discuss design standards for new developments at Landmark, ensuring that community input shapes future projects. The city is also exploring opportunities in sports tourism, with a committee formed to evaluate the feasibility of attracting sports-related events to Denton.
