Bay City leaders are taking a significant step toward improving local traffic safety and reducing congestion by proposing a resolution to petition the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for a feasibility study on a new truck route. During a recent city council meeting, Mayor and city officials discussed the urgent need for a dedicated truck route to alleviate heavy truck traffic, particularly hazardous materials, from the downtown area.

Mayor Boomquist highlighted that this initiative has been on the table for years, dating back to the Vision Bay City 2040 plan and transportation studies conducted in 2015. The proposed truck route aims to enhance public safety, reduce highway congestion, and promote economic development.
