Midland City Council unanimously approved a significant zoning change during its recent meeting on August 12, 2025, paving the way for new retail and emergency care facilities in the area. The council voted to rezone a currently undeveloped lot at the southeast corner of Field Parkway and Thomason Bridal from a Planned Development District (PD) to a Local Retail District (LR). The property, previously designated for housing development, has not seen any progress in that direction. The meeting also addressed a special exception request to subdivide a property on Mockingbird Lane into smaller lots, reducing the minimum lot size from two acres to 1.36 acres.
