City staff member Mr. Narvaez presented the request, explaining that the changes would only affect the playground equipment while keeping other park features intact. The Trail Creek addition is located north of Mancourt, south of Mimosa Street, and west of Grand Avenue, encompassing approximately 38 acres. The area is designated for medium-density residential use in the city’s future land use plan.

The original playground design featured a natural theme with elements resembling rocks and trees, while the proposed design, which has been influenced by a significant increase in costs since 2020, includes multiple slides and a larger shaded area but lacks some of the thematic elements of the original plan. The developer noted that the cost of the original playground equipment has more than tripled since its initial approval.

The playground installation is scheduled for phase three of the development, which is being constructed in four phases. The council's decision on this amendment will determine the final design of the playground, which is a key feature of the community park that will eventually be dedicated to the city.
