A key focus was the Fourth of July celebration, which many residents view as a vital community event. Anna Jondro, a long-time resident and past president of the Fourth of July Council, emphasized that while the celebration fosters community spirit, it also faces challenges. She pointed out that to attract visitors from outside the area, such as Austin, the event needs to grow, which in turn requires better accommodations, including hotels. Jondro noted that the festival's location on private property complicates arrangements with the Property Owners Association (POA), which has historically had a rocky relationship with the city.

Jondro stressed the necessity of cooperation among the city, the POA, and local residents to ensure the event's success. She expressed a desire for the Fourth of July celebration to be more vibrant and inclusive, suggesting that improved partnerships could lead to a more significant impact on local tourism and community pride.

Additionally, Jondro raised concerns about the need for a unified vision in community planning, warning against the pitfalls of working in silos. She advocated for a central focal point in decision-making processes to avoid disjointed efforts that could hinder progress.
