Decatur City Council has initiated the nomination process for candidates to serve on the 2026 Wise County Appraisal District Board of Directors during their recent meeting on August 11, 2025. The nomination period is currently open and will remain so until October 15. Each taxing entity, including the city, can nominate up to five candidates.

In addition to the nominations, the council conducted the first reading of an ordinance to adopt the budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025, and ending September 30, 2026. Furthermore, the council discussed the second reading of an ordinance to adopt recommendations from the Charter Review Commission, which will be placed on the ballot for a special election scheduled for November 4.
