This year, every nominee received a sign in their yard with a QR code, allowing passersby to easily nominate themselves for the awards. This change significantly increased participation, leading to a competitive selection process for the winners. Categories included "Pollinator Friendly," "Mayor's Choice," and "Gorgeous Green," among others. Although there were no nominations from apartment complexes this year, the commission hopes to encourage more participation from diverse housing types in the future.

During the presentation, Rick and Jill, residents of Janetta Drive, were recognized for their outstanding yard, receiving the "Gorgeous Green" award. Forsyth emphasized the importance of community involvement in property upkeep, noting that well-maintained homes contribute positively to the neighborhood's overall appearance and spirit.

The council expressed appreciation for residents who take pride in their properties, highlighting the impact of such efforts on the community's image. The meeting concluded with a call for continued engagement in beautification initiatives, reinforcing the city's commitment to fostering a vibrant and attractive environment for all residents.
