The Housing and Community Development Department, which manages a budget of approximately $3.5 million, allocates about $1.5 million specifically for affordable housing programs. These programs include rental assistance and initiatives like the Front Porch Team and housing summits, which aim to engage multiple stakeholders in addressing housing challenges.

Looking ahead, the city plans to host a housing summit in 2026, bringing together non-profits, private industry representatives, and city staff to discuss affordable housing strategies and their impact on workforce development. Additionally, a housing study will be conducted to assess the current state of affordable housing and identify areas for improvement.

Another critical program discussed is the property maintenance initiative, designed to assist current homeowners in maintaining their properties. This effort aims to prevent residents from falling into housing insecurity and ensure a quality living environment.
