Queen Creek's Town Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing its downtown area by approving a rezoning request for a vacant 2-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Ocotillo and Ellsworth Loop Road. The council unanimously voted to rezone the property to Downtown Core, paving the way for a new 20,000 square foot professional office building.

The project, presented during the council's regular session on August 6, 2025, aims to create a two-story building that will be positioned along Ocotillo Road, with parking spaces located to the south and southeast. A total of 86 parking spaces are planned, including 58 on-site and an additional 14 spaces from an adjacent property, ensuring ample parking for future tenants.

The design of the building incorporates a desert contemporary style with mid-century elements, featuring balconies and a large outdoor deck that will provide scenic views of the San Tan Mountains. The project also includes public art installations, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area.

During the meeting, council members expressed their enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its alignment with the town's vision for a vibrant downtown. Council Member McClure praised the design, while Council Member Benning noted the importance of local businesses expanding within the community. The council's approval follows a neighborhood meeting that saw minimal public attendance and no objections raised.
