The discussions highlighted the results of a survey that revealed a majority of respondents have experienced issues with e-bikers, particularly regarding speed and adherence to pathway rules.

The survey, while not a formal community opinion poll, provided valuable insights into the usage of e-bikes and the challenges they present. Approximately 95% of participants reported having encountered problems with e-bikers, with speed being the most frequently cited concern. This feedback prompted a workshop attended by various stakeholders, including cycling industry representatives and law enforcement, to explore potential solutions.

Key issues were categorized into three areas: behavioral concerns, rules and norms, and e-bike technology and infrastructure. The discussions emphasized that while speed is a primary concern, many issues also relate to broader cycling behaviors, such as stopping at stop signs and riding in groups. Notably, the conversations acknowledged that some challenges are specific to youth riders, who may lack experience with road rules.

Despite the concerns, the survey also indicated that 95% of respondents recognized the benefits of e-bikes as a mobility option within the community.
