Garland is set to welcome a new family-friendly distillery and restaurant, marking a significant step in the city’s efforts to enhance its downtown area as a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors. During a recent government work session, city officials discussed the plans for this new establishment, which will be located at the southeast corner of Main Street and North Sixth Street.

The new venue, which will be the fourth location for a popular local distilling company, aims to create a casual dining experience complemented by craft spirits. The company currently operates in Richardson, McKinney, and Fort Worth, and plans to transform a vacant 5,000 square-foot space into an inviting restaurant with a full-service kitchen and event space. The total investment for this project exceeds $1 million, with renovation costs estimated at $300,000 and additional expenses bringing the total to over $700,000.

City officials emphasized the importance of this project in promoting redevelopment and attracting visitors to downtown Garland. The initiative aligns with the city’s goal of creating a pedestrian-friendly environment that encourages shopping, dining, and entertainment. The property, owned by Carlos and Jody Porras since 2015, previously housed a pizza restaurant and arcade, and the new establishment is expected to reflect the branding of the company’s other locations through its decor and atmosphere.

As part of the economic development strategy, city leaders are considering a Chapter 380 agreement to support the project, which is seen as a vital component in revitalizing the downtown area. This development not only promises to enhance local dining options but also aims to inspire community engagement and boost the local economy.
