In a recent meeting of the Boulder Beverage Licensing Authority, significant discussions centered around community engagement regarding beverage licensing in Boulder City. The authority reported on outreach efforts aimed at gathering public opinion from local business owners, managers, and residents concerning a proposed beverage license.

The authority attempted to contact 804 individuals, successfully obtaining 211 signatures. Among these, 54 were from business owners and managers, all of whom expressed support for the license. In total, 157 residential signatures were collected, with 120 in favor, representing a 76% approval rate among residents. When combining both groups, the overall support for the license stood at 82%, with 37 individuals opposing it, which accounts for 18% of the total.

The authority emphasized the importance of transparency in their outreach process. They noted that they made efforts to ensure that participants were eligible to sign, particularly in a college town where age verification is crucial. Additionally, they documented reasons for declining participation, with 32 individuals opting not to sign. The most common reasons included being too busy (26), lack of interest (15), company policy restrictions (6), and having no opinion (6).

Furthermore, the authority collected feedback from those who opposed the license. Twelve individuals provided reasons for their opposition, which will be considered in the decision-making process. This feedback mechanism aims to give the authority a clearer understanding of community sentiments regarding the proposed license.

As the process moves forward, the authority will continue to analyze the feedback received and determine the next steps in the licensing process, reflecting the community's voice in their decisions.
