In a move to bolster community development, Norwalk has expanded its team, hiring an in-house plan checker and increasing the number of city building inspectors to four. This change is expected to significantly speed up plan reviews, making it easier for residents and businesses to navigate the development process.

The city has also made strides in housing assistance, monitoring 1,120 deferred loans and providing legal aid to 128 households through the Fair Housing Foundation. Notably, 19 households at risk of homelessness received security deposit assistance, while the housing authority issued 141 Section 8 housing choice vouchers, aiding an average of 612 participants with over $9 million in housing assistance payments.

Economic development is thriving, with new investments from Tesla, Raising Cane's, and Veterans Villas on San Antonio Drive. The recent openings of Milagro Cinemas, Mountain Mike's Pizza, and California Fish Grill further showcase Norwalk's commitment to fostering a prosperous business environment.
