Gunnar's commitment to mentoring young musicians has also left a lasting impact, particularly through his teaching roles at San Diego State University and local schools.

Bonnie Biggs, a retired educator and lifelong librarian, has made significant contributions to library services in the region. Her work includes launching library programs at Cal State San Marcos and enhancing Native American library services across Southern California. She has also played a pivotal role in fostering relationships between the university and the North County community, culminating in the establishment of an annual American Indian powwow, which she considers a career highlight.
