Marion County's Planning & Zoning Commission has taken a significant step towards expanding housing options in Ocala by approving a zoning change request for a 2.51-acre parcel located at 5727 Southeast 27th Avenue. The request, presented by Kathleen Vergnoli of Grove Services, seeks to rezone the property from Mixed Residential R4 to a Manufactured Housing Park (PMH).
Currently designated for high residential use, the area predominantly features single-family homes and mobile homes, with some agricultural land nearby. The existing zoning allows for a maximum of six mobile home spaces, but the proposed change to PMH would increase this capacity to 20 units, aligning with the county's urban growth strategy.
The site, previously known as Southeast Side Mobile Home Park, is already home to a single mobile home and is served by well and septic systems. The rezoning aims to better utilize the land while adhering to the county's development guidelines, particularly within the Primary Springs Protection zone.
This decision reflects Marion County's ongoing efforts to address housing needs and enhance residential options in the region.
