The Wylie Library Advisory Board meeting on July 28, 2025, highlighted the ongoing success of fundraising efforts by the Friends of the Library, which have significantly benefited local library programs. Lisa, a board member, shared that the Friends group has grown to over 120 members and has been actively involved in fundraising activities. Recently, they raised over $2,600 from selling glow-in-the-dark items during the Fourth of July event and more than $5,800 from their annual book sale.
These funds are crucial for the library, as they help support various programs and initiatives. Lisa mentioned that additional funds are expected from a partnership with Texas Book Consignments, which will further enhance the library's resources. The Friends group is also gearing up for their next major fundraiser, a mini-golf event at the library, which is anticipated to be even more successful than last year.
In addition to fundraising updates, the board conducted routine business, including the approval of minutes from the previous meeting and the nomination of new leadership. The board unanimously voted to approve the minutes and nominated Tasha Kimball as the new vice chair, ensuring continuity in leadership as they move forward with their initiatives.
The meeting underscored the importance of community involvement in supporting the library, with Lisa encouraging residents to join the Friends group for a nominal fee, which provides access to exclusive events and volunteer opportunities. As the library continues to thrive with community support, these efforts reflect a strong commitment to enhancing local resources and programs for all residents.
