In a recent planning and zoning meeting held in Grand Prairie, city officials discussed a proposal for a new auto paint shop at 2439 Dalworth Street. The applicant, who currently operates an auto paint and body business elsewhere, aims to relocate the painting portion of his operations to this new site.
The proposed facility will feature a single-tenant building with four work bays, a lobby, and an office area. City planners noted that the design meets all necessary density, dimensional, and parking requirements, as well as landscaping regulations, including the provision of street trees. The building's layout includes a customer area and dedicated work bays, ensuring that operations remain efficient and organized.
Importantly, the applicant is not seeking any variances, and the Development Review Committee (DRC) has recommended approval of the project with two specific conditions. First, the auto body work will not be permitted at this location, ensuring that the facility focuses solely on auto painting. Should the applicant wish to expand services in the future, any additional automotive-related uses would require a specific use permit in compliance with city regulations.
The second condition emphasizes adherence to the operational regulations outlined in the city’s code of ordinances for automotive-related businesses. This includes annual inspections to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
During the meeting, Jonathan Saldana, the applicant, expressed his support for the project and was present to address any questions from the council. The proposal reflects a growing interest in enhancing local business opportunities while maintaining community standards and safety regulations. As the city continues to develop, this new auto paint shop could serve as a valuable addition to the area, contributing to both economic growth and local employment.
