The Austin Fire Department (AFD) held its 139th Graduation Ceremony on July 25, 2025, celebrating the achievements of new recruits who have completed their training. The event was marked by the traditional pinning ceremony, where family members and loved ones honored the graduates by pinning badges on their uniforms.
Among the graduates were Emmanuel Canarabi, Jacob Lacrone, and Christian LaHero, each accompanied by family members during the pinning. The ceremony highlighted the personal connections and support systems that play a crucial role in the lives of these new firefighters. Other graduates included Carlos Caesar Martinez Quintana, Jack McCaleb, and Brooks McCarty, who were similarly recognized by their families.
Chief Baker administered the oath of office, emphasizing the commitment to integrity, accountability, and safety that the new recruits must uphold as they begin their careers in the fire service. The graduates pledged loyalty to the AFD, their community, and their families, reinforcing the values essential to their roles as firefighters.
The ceremony concluded with congratulations from city officials, including City Manager TC Barnax and Mayor Curt Watson, who acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the graduates. A special message from a guest who could not attend in person was also shared, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
This graduation marks a significant milestone for the recruits as they transition into their roles, ready to serve and protect the Austin community.
