Highlands officials are taking steps to improve accessibility at local soccer fields following a resident's complaint regarding the current ADA access. During the recent meeting of the Highland Village Community Development Corporation, members discussed the need for additional stairs to provide a more direct route from the ADA parking area to the fields.
Currently, the existing access requires individuals to walk nearly 100 feet out of the way, with a step down of approximately 16 inches, which poses challenges for those with mobility issues. The proposed addition of stairs aims to create a more convenient entry point, significantly reducing the distance and difficulty for users.
This initiative reflects the community's commitment to enhancing accessibility and ensuring that all residents can enjoy local recreational facilities. The discussion highlighted the importance of addressing such concerns promptly to foster an inclusive environment for everyone. As plans move forward, the community can expect improvements that will make accessing the soccer fields easier and more efficient for all.
