South Plainfield School District is set to open registration for subscription busing on August 1, 2025, at 8 AM, with a total of 184 seats available for eligible students. The registration process will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, requiring families to confirm their payment online, as no cash or checks will be accepted. To ensure all eligible families are informed, the district will send out multiple reminders via email and robocalls leading up to the registration date.

In addition to the busing updates, the district is preparing to install a new security system at the high school during the last two weeks of August. To facilitate a smooth transition, two virtual meetings will be held on August 22 and August 25, allowing families to ask questions about the new system. Parents will need to acknowledge the system's implementation through the Genesis parent portal when accessing their children's schedules.

The district also announced that student schedules will be available on August 22, and families are encouraged to update their contact information and complete applications for free and reduced lunch programs, as eligibility can change annually.

Furthermore, the district has secured $83,000 in grant funding for playground improvements at Kennedy and Roosevelt Schools, thanks to support from Senator Dinman. The total cost for each playground set, including installation, is approximately $120,000, with the district covering the remaining expenses. The PTOs at both schools are actively fundraising for additional playground equipment.
