In a bustling city hall, the DeSoto government convened to discuss a series of ambitious capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing the community's infrastructure and economic vitality. A new traffic signal at the intersection of Daniel Dell and Bolton Boone is also on the agenda. With a cost estimate of $21.1 million, the project is currently 90% complete and is expected to break ground in the summer of 2026.

Next on the list is the Westmoreland reconstruction, which mirrors the scope of the Daniel Dell project. This initiative will also feature a four-lane divided roadway, storm drainage upgrades, and new traffic signals at key intersections. With a budget of $20 million and design work already finalized, construction is slated to begin in January 2026, with bidding anticipated in August.

The Hampton Road character code project aims to create a vibrant destination through innovative streetscaping and pedestrian-friendly designs. Estimated at $48 million, this multiyear endeavor will be developed in partnership with the private sector and is currently at the conceptual planning stage.

Further improvements are planned for Pleasant Run Broadway, where the existing one-lane road will be expanded to four lanes, complete with new underground utilities and enhanced landscaping. This $22 million project is ready to commence once funding becomes available.

In addition to roadways, the city is also focusing on alley improvements, with eight alleys undergoing renovations since May 2025 at a cost of $1 million. Progress reports indicate significant advancements, with completion timelines being closely monitored.
