Wichita County officials have approved a significant tax abatement agreement with Cryovac Sealed Air Corporation, paving the way for a $31.4 million expansion at their Iowa Park facility. This decision, made during the Commissioner’s Court meeting on July 11, 2025, is expected to create 25 new full-time jobs with an average salary of $57,000.

The tax abatement will span ten years, starting January 1, 2027, and will provide an 80% reduction in taxes for the first two years, tapering down to 50% in the final five years. This structure aims to incentivize the company’s investment in upgrading two manufacturing lines, which is crucial for meeting increased customer demand.

Nick, a representative from BDO, emphasized the importance of Sealed Air to the local economy, noting their current employment of 800 people in the area. The expansion is not only a boost for job creation but also reinforces the company’s commitment to the Wichita Falls community.

Commissioner Beachum highlighted the need for the abatement, stating it would support the necessary upgrades while also loosening previous restrictions on prosthetic device purchases for residents, allowing for a one-time benefit of up to $1,500 for those in need.
