The Carmel High School Marching Greyhounds stole the spotlight at the recent Carmel Fest parade, showcasing their impressive legacy as one of the most decorated marching ensembles in the United States. Under the direction of band directors Chris Kreke, Kyle Young, Matt Black, Ethan Wilkinson, and Connor Granlund, the Greyhounds have claimed six Indiana state championships and six Bands of America Grand National championships, solidifying their reputation in the competitive marching band scene.

The parade also featured the Carmel Junior Varsity Color Guard, led by alumni Ella Podani, Brooke Newburn, and Ava Adair, who brought youthful energy to the event. The excitement was palpable as the crowd cheered for the talented performers, including drum majors Jace Davey, Ansley Thornton, Mia Cline, Bella Gullin, and Annabelle Inskeep.

In addition to the musical performances, the parade celebrated local achievements, including the Carmel High School cheerleaders, who were recognized as the 2024 state champions. Notably, Kaylin Broad, a member of the varsity cheer team, was crowned Miss Indiana Teen USA, adding to the community's pride.

The event was further enlivened by appearances from local celebrities, including Chelsea Helms from CBS 4 News and Amber Hardwick from Fox 59 News, who joined the festivities in stylish vehicles. The parade also honored veterans, featuring 95-year-old Sergeant Ted Pontus, who rode in a restored World War II Jeep, alongside retired Lieutenant Colonel Rick Hahn.

As the parade continued, the community's spirit shone brightly, with participants and spectators alike celebrating local talent and heritage. The Carmel Fest parade not only highlighted the achievements of its youth but also fostered a sense of unity and pride among residents, marking a memorable Independence Day celebration.
