At the recent government meeting on June 19, 2025, the spotlight shone brightly on the achievements of local students in robotics, showcasing their hard work and dedication. Andrew Wolsey, representing the school, presented three prestigious awards that highlighted the exceptional talent and commitment of young innovators.
The first accolade was the Long Island Regional Dean's List Award, presented to Igor D'Souza. This honor not only recognized Igor's leadership and excellence in STEM but also earned him a spot at the world championships in Houston, Texas. Wolsey praised Igor's dedication, stating, "It's a well-deserved award."
Next, the focus shifted to the First Tech Challenge team, known as "Quacks and Bolts," comprised of eighth graders. This team, identified by the number 16938, won the Judges Award, qualifying them for the Long Island championships. Wolsey expressed excitement for their future, noting, "We have a lot to look forward to in the next up and coming years."
Finally, the meeting celebrated the First Robotics Competition team, which received the Engineering Inspiration Award.
