The City of Corona is taking significant steps to enhance traffic safety and efficiency at the intersection of Main and Rincon. During a recent update, Senior Traffic Engineer Aaron announced the installation of a new traffic pattern featuring a flashing yellow arrow. This change comes in direct response to community feedback aimed at improving the intersection's safety.
The flashing yellow arrow introduces a protective permissive left turn operation. This means that drivers will first see a protected green arrow when it is safest to turn left. Following this, the flashing yellow arrow will allow drivers to make left turns when there are gaps in oncoming traffic. This system is designed to improve driver understanding and compliance, offering a clearer signal compared to traditional circular green lights.
By implementing this new traffic signal, the city aims to balance safety with reduced delays, ultimately improving traffic flow while ensuring safe left turns for both drivers and pedestrians. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to addressing community concerns and enhancing the overall driving experience in Corona.
