The City of Spring Hill celebrated the graduation of 25 residents from its second annual Citizens Academy during a meeting on June 16, 2025. This program, designed to enhance community engagement and understanding of local government, has now seen a total of 68 graduates since its inception.
Participants in the Citizens Academy completed a comprehensive curriculum that included classes on various city departments such as administration, public works, and emergency services. The program featured hands-on activities, lectures, and tours, allowing residents to gain valuable insights into the workings of their local government.
During the ceremony, graduates were recognized individually, with certificates presented to each participant. The event highlighted the community's commitment to fostering informed and engaged citizens. Alderman Wernard and Alderman Hartwell, both alumni of the program, expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative and its impact on civic participation.
The graduation not only marks a significant milestone for the participants but also reinforces the city's dedication to building a knowledgeable and active community. As the program continues to grow, it is expected to further enhance public involvement in local governance and decision-making processes.
